  • Muniz Sets Personal Record at IC4A Championships

    Chris Muniz (Suffern, NY), finished 11th in the IC4A Championships on March 7th in Boston. His time of 48.29 FAT made him the top finishing Division II runner in this race and placed him behind only ten other runners on the East Coast all of whom are in Division I programs.
  • Muniz, Eckert, Brissing, Modaferri, and Gibson Qualify and Compete at Prestigious NYU Invitational

    Shortly after competing at Cornell, five STAC athletes qualified for the prestigious NYU Fast Track Invitational on the 27th of February, which only allows some of the fastest athletes in the nation in track & field. Chris Muniz qualified in the 400 meter dash; Einar Brissing and Elmer Eckert qualified in the mile; Vinny Modaferri qualified in the 800 meter dash; Jeanette Gibson qualified in the shot put; and Sarah Callagy qualified in the mile. Unfortunately, out of this select group, only four were able to compete as Callagy had to scratch out due to serious illness.

  • Local Podiatrist Addresses Spartan Athletes

    On Sunday, February 22nd, the St. Thomas Aquinas College athletes had the opportunity to speak with local podiatrist, Dr. Conenello. Dr. Connello addressed over twenty-five athletes from the Cross Country, Track & Field and Women’s Soccer teams about how to care for their feet.
  • Spartans Improve at DeShriver Invitational; Muniz Wins at New Balance

    The Spartan Track & Field team spent this past weekend at East Stroudsburg University, for the DeShriver Invitational, in which they put forth another impressive performance. While the majority of the Spartans were duking it out at ESU, junior sprinter Chris Muniz stayed in New York to compete in the prestigious New Balance games at the Armory in Manhattan. Muniz showed heart and guts in two extremely tough races: the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. Racing against top-notch competition, Muniz was able to break his own STAC school record in the 200m with a phenomenal time of 22.61 seconds placing him 2nd in his heat. Then, in the 400m, while he says it "wasn't his best race," he finished in 49.9 seconds, which won his heat.

    After seeing success at the Wesleyan Invitational just a week ago, the Track & Field Spartans marched into the Harvard Open, at Harvard University, with high spirits, confidence, and ample drive to win and run fast times. The Spartans had a repeat of success at Harvard, highlighted by junior Chris Muniz's personal best of 49.71 in the 400-meter dash.
  • Spartans See Great Success at Season Opener

    On December 6th the Track & Field team traveled to Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT to kick-off their season with the Wesleyan Invitational Track & Field Meet where, from the first to last event, they saw success in every race and competition. With only two weeks of training under their belts, the Spartans arrived at Wesleyan looking to start off this new and exciting season on the right foot.
