STAC Senior selected to the Division II ECAC All-Star Team

Senior Jess Gogatz was named to the 2008 Division II ECAC All-Stars 1st Team. Gogatz, a utility player out of Brewster, NY graduated this past May with a 3.18 GPA in Education. She was a four year starter for the Lady Spartans and “was the kind of player every coach wants on their team,” commented head coach Barbara Vano.

MAZZELLO SELECTED TO ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-REGION TEAM

Senior shortstop John Mazzello (Hyde Park, NY) was named to the 2008 ABCA/Rawlings All-NE Region second team after collecting a season record 73 hits and hitting .365 in the Spartans first season playing with wood bats. The ABCA/Rawlings All-NE Region Team is voted on by the coaches within the Northeast Region.

Jeanette Gibson Competes in ECAC Championship

Jeanette Gibson concluded her season at the ECAC Championship at Princeton University on Saturday May, 17th. Her event, the women's discus throw was scheduled for Friday evening, but was postponed until Saturday afternoon due to the rain. In spite of this change; Gibson was undeterred as she threw her second longest throw of the season. Gibson competed against mostly Division I schools, yet that didn't faze her at all.

PASCH SIGNS PRO CONTRACT WITH ATLANTIC CITY

Former Spartan pitcher, Mike Pasch signed a pro contract with the Atlantic City Surf of the Independent Can-Am League. He will report on May 17th with the season beginning on May 22. Former Major League slugger, Cecil Fielder is the Atlantic City manager.
