The STAC cross country teams competed at Lehigh University at the Brooks Paul Short Invitational on Friday. Sophomore Keeley Batemen led the Spartans over the 6K course finishing in 24:11. Freshman Joe Chegwidden was the top men's finisher in 27:41.
Freshman Catherine Sandkuhl ran another solid race in her first ever cross country season covering the course in 25:24. Seniors Chelsea Klinger (27:15) and Lisa Brevogel (27:26) were the next Lady Sppartans to finish. Thie was a personal record for Brevogel in the 6K. Freshman Katelyn Garvey ran with the seniors and finished in 27:30. Freshman Ashley Weintraub was the final scorer for the women's squad crossing the line in 29:33.
In the men's race, Chegwidden was the first Spartan finisher for the second consecutive race. Sophomore Mike Galonski kept him in sight and was the next in at 27:52. At 29:19, freshman Alex Andre completed the 8K course followed by sophomore Mike Kraus (29:25). Classmate Garvenchy Nicolas was the 5th STAC scorer with a time of 30:03.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday, October 9th at the NJIT Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. The men's race will begin at 10:30 AM followed by the women at 11:30 AM.
