Kristine SchimpfLady Spartans Split with Molloy
The St. Thomas Aquinas women's tennis team split their final conference matchup with Molloy College. STAC won the first meeting between the two schools 5-4, which was interrupted due to weather. Molloy beat the Lady Spartans 6-3 in Friday's meeting knocking STAC out of playoff contention.
The Lady Spartans hosted the Lions on Monday but were unable to finish the contest until Friday at Molloy. STAC held on to a 5-4 victory with Jayden Brignola's victory in fifth singles. Sophomore Kristen Schimpf won both her single matches against Molloy with 6-3, 6-1 & 6-2, 6-0 victories. Danielle Bicknell, Jayden Brignola and Sarah Hughes also topped Molloy in singles while Valerie Massaro and Erin Maher won in third doubles.
STAC played Molloy in their final East Coast Conference match up dropping 6-3. Senior Alison Reeg and Danielle Bicknell joined up to beat Jenna Frey and Caitlin Ortiz in the top doubles flight. Schimpf and Hughes also picked up wins for STAC in singles.
