Lady Spartans Pick Up Road Win Against Felician College

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team won their first road game of the season, 58-54 over the Golden Falcons of Felician College.  The Spartans were led by junior Colleen Vogel who scored a career high twenty-four points on 7-15 shooting and 3-6 from behind the arc.  Vogel scored a key layup late in the game giving STAC a 55-52 lead and later followed with two free throws to keep it a two possession game with under a minute to play.  Freshman Sylvia Davis had a solid all around game after battling injuries for the early part of the season.  Davis added eight points and a game high five assists.

The Spartans went into the locker room down three at the half (27-24) led by Vogel's eleven points and Briana Sloper, who added seven of her own.  The Golden Falcons opened the half on a 10-5 run putting them ahead 39-29 before the Spartans began to chip away on a game that saw four lead changes and six ties.  Back to back plays by Davis and fellow freshman Natalie Catavero gave the Spartans their first lead in the second half with ten minutes remaining in the game.  Both guards connected on a layup and a three to give their team the late charge that it needed.

Senior Claire Wilson provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Spartans scoring eight of her ten points in the second half while pulling down eight rebounds.  Junior Whitney Dugan added six rebounds for STAC who beat Felician 43-41 on the boards.

The Lady Spartans will return to action as they face Georgian Court University on Tuesday in their final non-conference game.  Tip off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
