Lady Spartans Lose to Concordia, 72-69

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team lost to Concordia College, 72-69 in yesterday's contest.  The Lady Spartans were led by freshman Briana Sloper who scored twenty three points and grabbed ten rebounds.  Sylvia Daivs added ten points and five assists for the Lady Spartans.

STAC was down fifteen points (68-53) with 3:04 to go in the game but continued to fight as they rattled off a 16-3 run that fell short.  Theresa Dowling hit three free throws to bring them within three with less then two seconds remaining on the clock.  The Lady Spartans deflected the inbounds pass but were unable to get a shot off as they got tied up in a jump ball.

The Clippers were led by Kayla Kock who scored nineteen points followed by Brittany Binnie's sixteen points.  Concordia beat the Lady Spartans on the boards 43-41 while forcing 24 STAC turnovers.

STAC will return to action on Saturday as they host Bridgeport University at 1:00.  Saturday's game will represent the Lady Spartans Pink Zone game in which they will raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.  All fans are asked to wear pink to show their support.
