Lady Spartans Fall to Adelphi, 69-58

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's basketball team dropped a road game to Adelphi University, 69-58.  Freshmen Briana Sloper scored a game high nineteen points while grabbing seven rebounds.  Fellow rookie Sylvia Davis also pulled down seven boards and scored twelve points.

Davis led STAC with nine first half points and four assists.  Claire Wilson had two steals as the Lady Spartans made a 7-0 run to bring them within four (42-38) early in the second half.  Wilson finished with four points, four rebounds and three steals.  However, the Panthers continued to fight them off with runs of their own extending their lead to as many as fifteen with three minutes remaining.  Adelphi was led by Serita Lee who recorded fifteen points while grabbing thirteen rebounds.  Lisa Manetta also scored fifteen points shooting 3-5 from behind the arc.

Adelphi edged STAC on the boards 43-34.  The Panthers connected on 5-11 from behind the arc while STAC struggled going 4-22.  The Lady Spartans will host Mercy College on Saturday afternoon.  Tip off is scheduled for 1:00.
