STAC @ DICK SHEA INVITATIOINAL - 3/29/08

The Spartan Striders of Saint Thomas Aquinas College opened up their outdoor Track & Field campaign by competing at the Dick Shea Invitational up at West Point.

Leading the women's team was Jeanette Gibson who qualified for the CTC Conference Championship by putting the shot 36' 59". That throw gave her sixth place overall. Only Army & Syracuse competitors finished in front of her. Jeanette also took 10th place overall in the discus, just missing the CTC qualifying standard by less than one inch with a throw of 99.26.

Complimenting Jeanette on the track, Senior Lisa Urnaitis was the first of three lady Spartans to finish in the 800 meter run. Lisa finished in 2:54.31. Following Lisa across the line was freshman Sade Mosher who ran a 2:54.66. Sophomore Amanda Szorentini completed the race in 3:04.47. In the sprints Sophomore Ashley Toscano ran the 100 meter dash in 14.29, placing 11th overall.

On the men's side of the track, Sophomore Chris Muniz continued to dominate in the sprints. Chris took first overall in the 200 meter dash, running a 22.75. In the 100 meter dash Chris took third overall with a time of 11.09. That mark qualified him for the CTC Championship.

Also competing in the 100 were Freshmen Keith Francis @ 11.40 and John Cirolia @ 11.69. Sophomore Mike Valentine finished with a time of 11.81 and junior Anderson Munro ran a 12.12.
