Jeanette Gibson Competes in ECAC Championship
Sophomore, Jeanette Gibson had a great outdoor season to tag onto the success of her indoor season. Gibson broke four school records between both seasons, one of which she already held. With two years of competition left, Gibson currently holds the STAC records in Women's shot put, discus and javelin. Gibson's best output in each of the three categories are as follows: shot put - 38.25", discus - 119.03, and javelin 86.06.
At the ECAC championships, Gibson only competed in the discus throw; where she threw a distance of 115.40, her second best throw of the season. Earlier in the season Gibson held the discus record at 115.08, which she broke on May 10th at the New Balance Invitational with a throw of 119.03. Gibson, who went up against mainly Division I athletes this weekend, will use her post season experience as she prepares for next year.
"As someone who has coached at many different levels, I believe that Saint Thomas Aquinas College is both blessed & privileged to have this dedicated athlete representing them on both the soccer field & throwing field," commented track & field coach, Dave Billings. The two sport athlete is majoring in business and finished the spring semester with a 3.60 GPA.
