STAC's 4 X 400 Relay Team Places 3rd in Section at Penn Relays

The St. Thomas Aquinas men’s 4x400-meter relay established a school record at the 113th annual Penn Relays, held April 26-28 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

The Penn Relays Carnival is the world’s largest annual track & field meet, with more competing athletes and fans than at any other. The three-day attendance topped 100,000, with 46,000-plus on the final day.

The STAC relay foursome of freshman Mike Valentine (Walter Panas HS/Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.), freshman Vin Modafferi (Clarkstown South HS/New City, N.Y.), freshman Chris Muniz (Suffern HS/Suffern, N.Y.), and sophomore Andrew Gangemi (St. Peter’s Boys’ School, Staten Island, N.Y.) combined to place third in their section in 3 minutes, 32.17 seconds. That bettered the previous school outdoor record of 3:35.74 set earlier this season at the Trinity Invitational. It is also faster than the school indoor record of 3:32.45 set at the IC4A meet in March.
