The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost at Queens College, 2-0 and 5-4. Heather Clausen went 2-for-6 with 1 run for the Lady Spartans. Sharis Ruiz went 2-for-3 with 1 run in the second game of the day.
STAC struggled in the first game as W Yaroch held the Lady Spartans to 2 hits and no runs. Clausen and Michelle Sasso each had a hit. Megan Sweezy gave up 5 hits and 2 runs for STAC in the loss.
In the second game, STAC took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of an RBI sac fly from Maura Power. The Knights took the lead with a 3-run 3rd inning, highlighted by a 2 RBI home run from Crowley. The Lady Spartans regained the lead in the top of the 5th a Ruiz doubled and later scored on a dropped fly ball. Sweezy scored after reaching on a feilders choice to give STAC a 4-3 advantage.
The Knights rallied in the bottom of the 6th, scoring two unearned runs to edge STAC. STAC will return to action on Thursday as they host Molloy College at 3:30 for a double header.
