Bears Beat Lady Spartans
The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT 11-2 and 8-2 in Sundays ECC double header. Senior Angela Squilini was 2-for-3 with an RBI in game one while freshman Samantha Welsh was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the second game for the Lady Spartans.
In game one STAC scored their first run in the third inning off a Squillini RBI single to score Sharis Ruiz to make the score 5-1. The Bears had a six run sixth inning to go ahead 11-1. STAC added a run in the bottom of the inning as Welsh walked with the bases loaded.
In the second game, Welsh hit an RBI single in the third, scoring Heather Clausen to put the Lady Spartans on the scoreboard, 4-1. STAC added a run in the next inning behind an RBI single by Joy Ferriello to score Alyssa Cataldo.
STAC will be back in action on Tuesday as they face Mercy College.
