Mercy Holds Off STAC
The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to Mercy College, 3-2 and 4-0. Junior Alyssa Cataldo was 3-for-5 for the day. Michelle Sasso and Heather Clausen each scored a run for the Lady Spartans.
STAC scored two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game, 2-2. Clausen and Sasso each walked and both scored as Sharis Ruiz reached on an error. Mercy scored the go ahead run in the top of the seventh off an RBI single from Krissy Lacik. Maura Power had the loss on the mound for the Lady Spartans.
In game two, the Mavericks Shanna Hicks pitched seven scoreless innings strikinig out 5 batters as Mercy shutout the Lady Spartans 4-0. Samantha Welsh picked up the loss for STAC.
STAC will return to action on Thursday when they host C.W. Post at 3:00 PM.
