Lady Spartans Split with Queens

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team beat Queens College 4-3 in the second game of today's double header.  Heather Clausen hit a two run homerun in the third inning to tie the game 3-3.  Angela Squillini hit a RBI single in the sixth giving STAC a 4-3 lead as she scored Joy Feriello who led off with a single.  Clausen was 3-for-3 for the game. Pitcher Amanda Forsythe picked up the win allowing only four hits and striking out two.  Alyssa Cataldo added a RBI single in the opening inning of the game.

Earlier in the day STAC dropped a 9-7 game to Queens giving up six runs in the sixth inning allowing the Knights to pull off the comeback.  The Lady Spartans got off to a strong start scoring three runs in the first inning and adding a run in both the second and fourth to take a 5-0 lead over Queens.  STAC gave up three runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth falling behind 9-5.  Alyssa Cataldo hit a one out double in the seventh inning and was scored as Ferriello followed with a home run.  However it was not enough as STAC fell short 9-7.  Stephanie Sfraga struck out eight pitching four scoreless innings.
