Amanda ForsytheLady Spartans Struggle at NYIT
The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to NYIT 6-2 and 9-4 in today's double header. Joy Ferriello had an RBI in the first game and went 2-for-3 in game two. In the second game of the day Amanda Forsythe hit a two run home run in the 2nd inning to give the Lady Spartans an early 2-1 lead. Later that game, Angela Squillini hit a RBI single to bring STAC within one, 5-4 in the top of the sixth. However it was not enough as NYIT came back with a four run inning in the bottom of the sixth to put away the game.
Jess Rickle was 2-for-4 in the opening game while Kelly Sullivan was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Stephanie Sfraga picked up the loss on the mound in game one along with Forsythe for the second game. The Lady Spartans will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Bloomfield College.
