Lady Spartans Dropped Two to Concordia

The St. Thomas Aquinas softball team lost to visiting Concordia College, 2-1 and 6-1.  Junior Angela Squillini was 3-for-3 in the first game including a solo homerun putting the Lady Spartans ahead 1-0.  Squillini had three of STAC's four hits in the low scoring game including a double in the seventh.  In the second game of the day, Jess Rickel added a solo homer of her own but it was not enough to recover from the Clippers four run first inning.

The Clippers scored one run in the sixth and seventh to take a 2-1 lead.  Squillini doubled with two outs putting the tying run on base.  However, STAC popped up to end the game.  Amanda Forsythe picked up the loss at the mound giving up the two runs and striking out three.

Concordia scored four runs in the opening inning of the game.  Rickel put the Lady Spartans on the board with her homerun in the fourth.  Rickel was 2-for-3 for the game.  Squillini and Danielle Hart each had a hit for STAC. 

The Lady Spartans will be back in action on Monday as they travel to cross town rival Nyack College.
