STAC’S HAUSNER AND DOWLING’S JENSEN NAMED
CO-ECC MEN’S SOCCER SCHOLAR-ATHLETES

HARRISON, NY February 13, 2007 – Morten Jensen (Stavanger, Norway), a graduate student pursuing an MBA in General Management at Dowling College and Lukasz Hausner (Ramapo, NY), a senior Business major at St. Thomas Aquinas College, have been named the 2006 Co-ECC Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athletes, as voted by the league’s coaches.  Jensen maintains a 3.73 grade point average in addition to an impressive athletic resume as he helped his team to the 2006 National Championship, and Hausner, a four-year starter and team captain, possesses a 3.90 grade point average

Jensen, the 2006 Division II NSCAA National Player of the Year, ECC Player of the Year and a First Team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American, netted the game winning goal in this season’s Division II National Championship game versus Ft. Lewis State.  He is Dowling’s all-time leader in goals (72), assists (38), and points (182).  In addition, Jensen was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team and was selected the tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player.

Hausner, a four-year team captain for the Spartans, did not miss a game in his entire career at St. Thomas Aquinas.  During the 2006 season, Lukasz scored eight goals and added five assists.

“Excelling in academics and in athletics is characteristic of many ECC Student-Athletes,” said Ed Manetta, ECC Commissioner. “Jensen and Hausner are excellent examples of this, demonstrating dedication in both the classroom and excelling on the soccer field, and they are worthy recipients of the Scholar-Athlete Awards for Men’s Soccer.”

A number of ECC men’s soccer student-athletes demonstrated excellence in class and on the pitch during the 2006 season.  The ECC 2006 Men’s Soccer Honor Roll includes: Alexandre Augusto, Mercy College, Senior; Terence Liu, C.W. Post, Senior; Damien Slubowski, New Haven, Senior; Michael Topel, Molloy, Sophomore.
