Spartans Set to Tip Off 2010-2011 Season

The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team is set to tip off the 2010-2011 season this evening with their first home game against Philadelphia University.  The Spartans return 8 letter winners from the 2009-2010 season.

Sophomore swing player Justin Brown is back as STAC's leading returning scorer.  Brown an ECC All Rookie Selection averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds for the Spartans who finished 6-20 last season.  Senior Jamie Blanchard and graduate student Shaun Weaver are the veterans of the squad that consists of three freshmen and eight sophomores.  Blanchard averaged 9.1 points per game for STAC while Weaver contibuted 2.3 points per game and 2.6 rebounds per game.  Daniel Skinner and Jason Halloway earned valuable minutes for the Spartans last season and will be keys to their back court this season. 

The Spartans will host Philadelphia at 7:00 p.m. tonight before hitting the road for their next three games.  STAC begins conference play at NYIT on December 1st and then hosts Molloy College for their first home conference game on December 4th.
