Spartans Lose to Nyack in a Thriller
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team lost to Nyack College 57-55 in front of a rowdy crowd that packed the gym at the Bowman Center. STAC senior forward Akeem Comas continued to lead the Spartans with a game-high 18 points on 7-12 from the field and 3-4 from behind the arc. Senior forwards Ahmed Allen and Pierre Gaspard added 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Spartans, who were down four at the half made a run in the second half building a 47-42 lead on a basket by Comas. The Warriors would not go away quietly as they responded with an 11-2 run of their own taking a 53-49 lead. Foul shooting was a key stat as the Warriors converted 14-of-18 while the Spartans struggled going 9-for-18, including some key misses down the stretch.
The Spartans will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Delaware for the Wilmington College Classic where they will face Goldey Beacom College on Friday and then meet up with host Wilmington College on Saturday.
