Molloy Tops STAC, 75-64
The St. Thomas Aquinas men's basketball team dropped a 75-64 decision to Molloy College. The Spartans were led by Ahmed Allen who scored fifteen points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out five assists. Akeem Comas scored fourteen points shooting 5-10 from the field.
After trailing by thirteen at the half the Spartans cut Molloy's lead to single digits (44-35) on a traditional three point play by Comas at the 16:43 mark. The Spartans rallied to within five on two occassions; the second off a layup by Pierre Gaspard with 12:47 remaining in the game. Gaspard added twelve points and six rebounds for STAC.
Molloy College responded with a run of their own to extend their lead back to fifteen with five minutes remaining in the game. The Lions were led by Brian Hutchinson's nineteen points and ten rebounds while Girard Fitts added eighteen points. Freshman Ra'Shad James rounded out STAC's double figure scorers with eleven points.
The Spartans will have a quick turn around as the travel to Dowling College on Saturday for a 3:00 tip.
