Strong Second Half Lifts CW Post Past Spartans
The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team fell to CW Post 87-57 on Saturday. The Spartan's Ahmed Allen had sixteen points and seven rebounds including 8-9 from the free throw line. Vincent Johnson and Tony Mills added nine and seven points for the Spartans. Senior Akeem Comas was held to seven points on 3-6 shooting after picking up three fouls early in the game.
The Spartans ended the half down thirteen, 36-23. CW Post went on a 12-2 run to open the second half and never looked back. The Pioneers continued to extend their lead as they shot 58.3 percent for the second half.
CW Post had four scorers in double figures with Jonathan Schmidt leading the way with nineteen. Nicholas Carter added eighteen while Kenny Burkes and Daniel Lyndon each chipped in fourteen. The Pioneers moved to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in ECC play.
STAC will be off this week due to final exams. The Spartans will travel to Queens on Saturday for a 7:00 game. STAC will return to their home court on December 20th as they face Assumption College to close out the semester.
