STAC Loses to Adelphi 64-55

The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's basketball team dropped a 64-55 decision to Adelphi University.  The Spartans were led by senior Akeem Comas who finished with fifteen points and seven rebounds.  Jelani Winfield added eight points and three steals.  STAC trailed by as many as nineteen in the game but continued to fight hard cutting Adelphi's lead to seven with just under two minutes remaining.

Chad Williams hit a three making the score 59-52 before Adelphi's Sky Khaleel scored a layup to increase the Panthers lead to nine.  Khaleel led Adelphi with fifteen points and seven rebounds.  Shawn Weaver converted on a traditional three point play to put the Spartans within six but there was not enough time remaining as Adelphi closed out the game hitting 3-4 from the free throw line.  Williams finished with six points and Weaver added five for STAC. 

The Spartans will have a quick turn around as they face Mercy on Wednesday.  Game time is slated for 7:00 PM.
