Rastetter Takes 1st, as Spartans Prevail to Win Charger Classic

The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team shot a team score of 300 to win the Charger Classic, hosted by Dominican College at the Spook Rock Golf Course.  Kai Rastetter shot rounds of 73, 72 to win the tournament.  Anthont Berardo and Thomas Linehan finished tied for 5th with two day totals of 151.

The Spartans were in first after the openming round with a team score of 303.  Rastetter led the group finishing tied for first with Concordia's E. Fernandez Meade.  Rastetter's 72 was enough to secure first place as Meade finished in second with a round of 73 on Monday.  Concordia secured the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place spots shooting a team low 296 for the second round but it was not enough to catch the Spartans.

Linehan bounced back with a second round 72 after shooting 79 on the first day.  Chris Gentle and Nick Delango each shot 80 on day two but their opening rounds of 77 and 78 were enough to boost the Spartans.  STAC finished with a 5-stroke lead over Concordia which was the only team in striking distance.

All of the Spartans finished among the top 18 out of more than 50 participants.  STAC has one more tournament left for the Fall season, as they travel to Putnam, CT to participate in the AIC International Golf Classic held at Connecticut National Country Club.
