Spartans Take 10 Stroke Lead at Super Regionals
The St. Thomas Aquinas golf team kept a strong hold on its first place lead by dropping two more strokes from the rest of the pack. Senior Chris Fitzpatrick shot even par in round two to hold on to his first place lead at 4-under par. Joe Harney shot 76 in the tough weather conditions and is tied for 7th overall.
Thomas Linehan shot 73 and is tied for 12th place while John Casey and Mike Gunderson are tied for 22nd place. Fitzpatrick birdied the 9th and the 11th holes for the second day in a row. The Spartans hold a 10 stroke lead over the field with a team score of 573. Indiana U. of PA is in second place with a team score of 583 while Concord has a team score of 589 for third place.
The Spartans will tee off between 12:50 and 1:30 tomorrow afternoon for the final round. Fitzpatrick will tee off last of the group at 1:30 on hole #1. The top five teams after tomorrows final round will advance to the NCAA Championships in Alabama.
