Golfers Capture Championship At King Memorial Tournament

Schwarze Medals and leads Spartans to dominant victory!

The Spartans continued their quest towards another spot in the NCAA Regional Tournament with an impressive 15 stroke victory over a field of 16 Northeast powers. The team was led by solid play on day 1 shooting a fine 303, 12 shots clear of their closest competitor. Patrick Schwarze led the team with a 2-over par 73, holding a share of the individual lead. Jordan Perretz and Sean Campbell contributed with scores of 75 and 77 respectively, and Patrick Cibirka finished with a solid score of 78.

 Entering day 2, the Spartans faced difficult conditions with fog, wind and temperatures in the 30's. Showing their mental toughness, the team started off fast and did not let off the throttle. Jordan Perretz continued his solid play with a second round of 76 and a total of 151 for 6th place in the tournament of 78 players. Sean Campbell and Pat Cibirka each posted 2-day totals of 155 with second round scores of 78 and 77 leaving them tied for 9th among the field. The Spartans excellent play was capped off with a tremendous round of 68 by sophomore Patrick Schwarze. Schwarze's round included 5 birdies and 11 pars, giving him a two day total of a 1-under par 141.  The team finished with a remarkable day of 299 and finished the tournament with a cumulative score of 602, 15 strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

 The Spartans look for their forth tournament victory next week in their East Coast Conference tournament at Rockland Country Club in Sparkill, NY.
