Spartans Split with Knights
The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team split this afternoon's double header with Queens College. STAC fell 6-3 in game on then went on to win the second game, 3-1. Freshmen Eric Cooper went 5 strong innings, with 8 strike outs and 1 run in the win, while fellow rookie Nick D'Angelo earned the save.
In game one, Andrew Hancsak went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI. Hancsak's double in the 4th gave the Spartans a 3-2 lead, however, the Knights added a run in the 6th to tie the game and 3 more in the 7th to secure the win.
The Spartans got on the scoreboard first in game two. Nick Barbalato had an RBI single to score Mike Walraven. Queens added a run in the 6th but it was not enough as STAC held on for the 3-1 win.
The Spartans will play a double header at Queens tomorrow finishing the five game series.
