Spartans Shutout Knights

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team beat Queens College, 4-0 and 1-0 in today's double header.  Kevin Ryan went 3-for-6 for the day with 2 runs.  Ryan also went the distance on the mound giving up 1 hit and striking out 12 batters.  Matt Marotta was 2-for-4 in game one and added another hit in the second game of the day.

In game one the Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 start after the first and had three single run innings to pick up the win.  Dan McDermott and George Wargo each had 2 RBI's for the game. 

In the second game of the day, Matt Matkovich went seven innings allowing three hits and striking out nine to pick up the win.  Ryan went 2-for-3 for the game while Frank Salerno hit an RBI single in the sixth scoring Matt Smith.  Smith reached on a walk and was 1-for-2 for the game. 

The Spartans will travel to Queens for the final game of the five game series tomorrow at 12:00.
