Spartans Drop Game to C.W. Post, 6-4

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team lost today's game against C.W. Post, 6-4.  The Spartans rallied in the ninth but came up short despite four hits and two runs.  Matt Smith went 3-for-3 for STAC while David Schwartz had 2-RBI.

The Spartans got on the score board first behind a RBI single from Matt Marotta scoring Frank Salerno who also singled.  STAC lead 1-0 until the Pioneers scored two runs in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.  Zack Graczyk added a two run homer in the seventh and Brian Anderson added an RBI single as C.W. Post took a 5-1 lead.

The Spartans responded by adding another run in the next inning as Kevin Ryan doubled to right field with two outs. Matt Smith singled in the next at bat scoring Ryan and bringing STAC within three.  The Pioneers added a run in the top of the ninth before Ryan and Schwartz each picked up RBI's in the bottom of the ninth for STAC. 

STAC will play a double header tomorrow at C.W. Post.  The first game will begin at 12:00.
