Spartans Stay Strong Against Dominican

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team continued its strong play with a 2-0 victory against cross town rival Dominican College.  The Spartans scored both of their runs in the third inning.  The first run came off the hot bat of freshman Nick Barbalato who singled to score Matt Marotta.  Marotta lead off the inning with a single going 1-for-3 for the game.  Barbalato was 1-for-4 and George Wargo was 2-for-4 for the Spartans.

Barbalato advance around the bases, first on an error and reached third off a wild pitch.  The rookie attempted to steal home which caused the pitcher to balk scoring the second run of the game.   Senior Scott Sadowski pitched 6.2 innings scattering two hits and earning the win.  The Spartans had seven hits for the game compared to Domincians three.  David Schwartz came in for the ninth striking out three out of four batters.

The Spartans will return to action Thursday as they face Dominican College again, where the Spartans will play at the Vet as the away team.  Game time is slated for 3:00 PM.  STAC will finish with their regular season play on Friday as they host Concordia College at the Vet.  Friday's game will also be STAC's senior day in which they will recognized their six seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
