Garvey hits RBI single

Spartans Fall Short Against Chargers

The St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team added three runs in the final inning however it was not enough, falling 9-4 to Dominican College.  After falling behind 3-0 senior Jon Garvey hit a RBI single to score Matt Marotta and put the Spartans on the board.  Marotta had reached on a single, stole second and advance to third on a wild pitch.

In the final inning the Spartans began to rally from their 9-1 deficit as Kevin Conors and Vin Malzahn each walked.  Each of them scored a run as Marotta hit a RBI double followed by Chris Zapata's RBI single to right.  Freshman Nick Barbalato scored the final run for the day scoring Zapata off a single up the middle.    

The Spartans will face Concordia College tomorrow at 3:00 PM at the Vet.  Tomorrow's game will be the final regular season home game and will be senior day for STAC's six seniors.  The Spartans will recognize; Kevin Connors, Jon Garvey, Joe Guistino, John Mulder, Scott Sadowski and Chris Zapata in a pre-game ceremony.
