Baden Players of the Week
Vin Malzahn, St. Thomas Aquinas
(So., 1B, Port Jervis, N.Y. /
Port Jervis) - In a 4-1 week as a DH (recovering from injury),
went 9-for-19 (.473) with 7 RBI, four runs scored, two doubles, a
triple, and a home run.
Chris Irwin, Molloy
(Sr., C, Mahopac, N.Y. / Mahopac) - Hit
.438 with 7 hits (2 2B, 3B), 6 runs scored, seven RBI and
slugged .688 in a 3-2 week. Had a hit and RBI in an 8-4 loss to
Dowling. In a 9-1 win over Briarcliffe, was 1-1 (2 RBI, R). Had a
hit (2 RBI, R) in a 4-3 win over Queens. In a 13-5 win over
Queens, he was 3-4 (2 RBI, 3 R).
Baden Pitchers of the Week
Matt Kotuby, Bridgeport
(Sr., P, East Hampton, Conn. / East
Hampton) - Went 2-0 pitching 15.2 innings, allowing four earned
runs on 12 hits with seven strikeouts. He topped New Haven on
the road (6-2) going eight innings (2 R, 6 H). Topped Concordia
at home (4-3) going 7 2/3 innings (2 ER, 6 H, 4 K).
Anthony Russo, St. Thomas Aquinas (Sr., P, Brooklyn, N.Y. /
St. Edmunds) - Made two conference starts, allowing one earned
run over 13 1/3 innings (6 H, 2 BB) and went 1-0. Against
Concordia he tossed 8 innings (3H, 0 ER, 3 K, BB) in a 7-1 win.
Against New Haven he went 5 1/3 (no decision) allowing 3 hits
(ER, BB, K).
Baden Rookie of the Week
Tom Rombilus, New Haven
(Fr., OF, Monroe, Conn. / Masuk)
- Hit .381 (8-21, 2B, SB) with four RBI and five runs along with
an on base percentage of .458.
