PASCH SIGNS PRO CONTRACT WITH ATLANTIC CITY
The former Spartan and Montvale, NJ native pitched four seasons for St. Thomas appearing in 51 games and tossing 214 innings. He struck out 155 while walking only 68, a 2.5 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio. His record stood at 12-15, with 4 saves and a 4.78 ERA. He also stood out in the classroom, maintaining at 3.1 GPA.
Pasch becomes the 5th Spartan to be drafted or play professionally over the past 6 years. The others were Brian Flynn ('02, St. Louis), Mike Clohessy ('03, Ind. Southeastern), Mike Sharpe ('05, NY Mets), and active pitcher John Muller ('07, Chicago Cubs). Flynn and Pasch are first cousins.
After graduating Pasch continued to play with the Nyack Indians of the North Jersey Amateur Baseball League and went to several professional tryouts. In a recent tryout in Florida his fastball touched 90 mph with good movement and he displayed a sharp, late-breaking curve ball. He made a strong impression on the scouts and managers in attendance, one of which was the General Manager of Atlantic City, Chris Carminucci.
"Mike was a solid pitcher for us for four years. He never missed a start and never turned down an opportunity to pitch, whether in relief or on short rest...a true bulldog on the mound," said Head Coach Scott Muscat. "He worked hard for us for four years and he has continued that. This opportunity could not have happened to a more deserving guy."
