Vin Malzahn and Mike Triana combined for 5 hits and 6 RBIs to lead STAC to a 12-4 ECC victory over New Haven. Starting pitcher Anthony Russo kept the Chargers in check through 5 1/3 innings, allowing only 3 hits and a solo homerun for their only run. He left the game in the 6th with the game tied 1-1. The Spartan bats would do the rest as they scored 4 runs in the 7th and 7 runs in the 8th to put the game away.

With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 7th, Ramon Cueto launched an RBI sac-fly to left to give the Spartans a 2-1 advantage.  In the 8th the Spartan bats exploded. Both Malzahn and Triana ripped RBI singles to center and plated 4 runs. Pinch-hitter Chris Zapata would add to the lead with another 2-RBI single. All 7 runs in the 8th came with two outs.

The Spartans inched closer to the top of the ECC standings at 11-8 and now stand one game out of 1st place. With the win they notch their 20th victory of the season.
