MALZAHN HOMERS AND DRIVES IN FOUR RUNS TO POWER STAC OVER MERCY

Boca Raton, Florida - Sophomore 1st baseman, Vin Malzahn (Port Jervis, NY) went 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs, including a 2-run double, a triple, and a 2-run homerun to give the Spartans a 7-4 regional victory against Mercy College in Boca Raton, Florida.

Freshmen hurlers Chris Schoepe (Prattsville, NY) & Mark Fochesato (Middletown, NY) held down the Mercy offense and closer Jon Della Monica (Tappan, NY) picked up his 3rd save of the young season. Schoepe started the game and went 4 innings, Fochesato threw 4 innings, allowing only one run before Della Monica closed the door.

STAC dropped the first game of the DH 5-0 as the Mercy starter threw eight shut-out innings.

The Spartans improve to 6-5 and will take on Post University tomorrow at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.
