Spartans Top Molloy 8-4, Win Series

Javier Diaz hit a 3-run double in the first inning and the Spartans never relinquished the lead enroute to an 8-4 series winning victory over Molloy College. STAC built a 5-0 lead before Molloy chipped away closing it to 5-4 by the 6th. The Spartans responded in the 7th with a lead-off single by John Muller, followed by Diaz's second double. With one out, Ryan Polacco delivered a 2-run single through a drawn infield to give the Spartans a 7-4 lead. An unearned run later in the inning gave STAC an 8-4 lead.

 

Starting pitcher, Mike Pasch threw 5 innings for the victory. Freshman lefty, Brian LaMarr threw 4 innings of 2-hit relief, surrendering a lone unearned run and picking up the save.

 

The offense was led by Diaz who went 3-for-5, with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBIs. John Muller reached base all 5 times, going 3-for-3, with 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and a RBI. Polacco had two hits and John Mazzello singled and scored three times.
