STAC Supports Pink Zone; Wear Pink on Saturday
On Saturday, February 21st, St. Thomas Aquinas College will promote Pink Zone during the women's basketball game against Bridgeport University. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 1:00 PM followed by the men's game at 3:00 PM. The WBCA began the WBCA Pink ZoneTM, formerly known as "Think Pink", in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball, on campuses and in communities. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
To show their support, the Spartan athletes, coaches and administrators will wear pink. All fans are encouraged to do the same. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be selling t-shirts, lollipops and ribbons to raise money for the Kay Yow WBCA Cancer Foundation. If you would like to make a donation, please make checks payable to STAC Women's Basketball.
