Mike Aviles and Matt Matcovich were Named Spartan Athletes of the Month for the month of June.

The St. Thomas Aquinas pitcher was selected in the 42nd round of the 2010 MLB Draft.  Aviles signed with the Seattle Mariners and reported to camp in June.  As a Spartan, Aviles has worked 170 innings, struck out 114 batters, and compiled 13 wins.  The junior had 4 wins on the mound for STAC this season and tallied 41 strike outs.
