Sparkill, N.Y. - Facing their toughest test of the season, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 24-0 shutout loss to No. 19 IWLCA Division II nationally ranked Mercy University on Saturday at Spartan Field.
STAC falls to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in ECC play, while Mercy improves to 9-1 and 3-0.
Mercy controlled the match from start to finish, leading things 16-0 at halftime, while adding eight more goals the rest of the way.
Kadyden Meyer and Ashlinn Kelly each put together four-goal, one-assist performances for the Mavericks, while Jessica Grzelaczyk (four assists), Juliana Talenti (two assists) and Andrew Mott (1 assist) added hat tricks and teammates Briello Bilello (2 goals, 1 assist), Kate McNally (2 goals), Dakota Dieumehard (1 goal, 2 assists), Sophia Pittoni (1 goal, 2 assists) and Riley Wallace (1 goal) added to the hosts' totals on the scoreboard. Goalie Emma Batter (W, 2-0) got the start in goal for Mercy and turned aside the only shot she faced in the first half to earn the victory. Fellow netminders Olivia LaMonica and Olivia Bradley also saw action in the second half, with neither seeing a shot in the final 30 minutes of play.
Lilah Magenheimer (L, 0-4) got the start in the net for the Spartans and made six stops on 30 total shots fired her way.
