Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team saw its 2026 home opener spoiled by Holy Family University in an 18-1 defeat at Spartan Field on Saturday afternoon.
STAC falls to 0-2 on the year, while Holy Family moves to 1-2.
In their 18-goal outburst, which included a 14-1 halftime advantage, the visiting Tigers received hat tricks from both Julie Gallardo and Taina Harkins. Teammates Gwen Varley and Julia Leibig and Morgan Wise chipped in two goals apiece, with Zoe Cullen, Elle Fitzgerald, Lexi Ryan, Casey Schuette, Riley Fudala and Landyn Persicano adding to the totals on the stat sheet with a goal each. Haydee Guzman (W, 1-1) got the start in the cage for Holy Family and turned aside 6 of 7 shots faced to pick up her first win of the campaign.
For STAC, Jade Gorman picked up her first goal of the season with just over ten minutes to play in the first quarter. Juana Rodriguez (L, 0-1) got the nod in net for the Spartans and stopped 6 of 24 shots fired her way.
