Spartans Fall in Women's Lacrosse Season Opener to Bridgeport

Bridgeport, Conn. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team opened its 2026 season on the road Wednesday, taking on the University of Bridgeport at Knights Field. An eleven-goal first quarter outburst sent the hosts to a 21-1 victory over the Spartans.

STAC falls to 0-1 on the year, while Bridgeport improves to 2-1.

Jada Garcia tallied her first goal of the season, in the fourth quarter, to lead the Spartans' offense on the day. Goalie Ailsa Ogilvie (L, 0-1) got the start in cage for the maroon and gold and stopped 7 of 28 shots faced.

Meanwhile, Bridgeport was led by Payton Noack and Tara Dimaio, who tallied seven goals and an assist apiece, while teammate Molly Blackadar (2 goals, 2 assists), Dani Strong (2 goals), Evelyn Edwards (1 goal, 5 assists), Cassidy Dalton (1 goal, 1 assist) and Katlyn Strong (1 goal) all added to the totals on the scoreboard. Goalie Juliana Reyes (W, 1-0) got the start in net for the Purple Knights and faced no shots in the first half, before fellow netminder Amber Militrano took over for the final 30 minutes of action and stopped three of four shots fired her way.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Bridgeport outshot STAC 30-6 (28-4 on goal) for the game.
  • Jada Garcia tallied a team-high three shots for the Spartans, with two going on net.
  • Jade Gorman and Brianna Cote caused three Purple Knights turnovers each in the match.
  • Cote also scooped up three of the Spartans eight ground balls.
  • STAC won 8 of 24 draw controls, with Morgan VanDover and Jada Garcia winning three apiece.
