Cross Country Season Ends at NCAA East Regional

The St. Thomas Aquinas cross country season came to a close at the NCAA East Regional at Audubon Golf Club in Amherst, NY. The women finished in 7th place while the men took 16th place.

The women were the first to take on the muddy 6K cousre.  Senior Kristen Borriello led the way for the Spartans in her final collegiate race.  She finished 15th overall crossing the line in 23:35.  Sophomore Aida Torpey was next in 23:59 which was good fro 22nd place.  Both runners were honored as All-region selections.  Freshman Abagaile Kimbrellran a strong race in only her second 6K.  She finished in 44th place in 24:50.  Sophomore Rebecaa MacLeod completed a solid sophomore campaign as the 4th team finisher in 25:44.  Senior Kara Santa Teresa was the final scorer in her last cross country race clocking a time of 26:28.  Freshman Mary Dristle and sophomore Grace Carter finished in 28:19 and 30:26 respectively.  The women's team was ranked in the USTFCCCA East Region Top Ten for the entire season.  Their 7th place finish was in a field made up of 25.

The men's race fell victim to an extremely messy course, but the Spartans notched strong performances.  Sophomore Robert Guidicipietro was the first to cross the finish line in 36:19 and in 67th place.  Senior Vincent Vazquez closed out his collegiate cross country career as the secoong Spartan finisher in 79th place in 36:42.  The next three Spartan finishers worked together throughout the race running as a pack.  Sophomore transfer Aidan Russell finished in 38:57 followed by sophomore Kyle Kondracki in 39:00 and freshman Matthew Tina in 39:09.  Senior Christian Diaz (40:48) also ran his final competition as a Spartan cross country runner.  The men finished in 16th place overall out of a field of 23.
