Spartan Alumni Run 2016

On Saturday, the St. Thomas Aquinas cross country program hosted the 5th Annual Spartan Alumni Run.  The 5K race, which was held at Tallman Mountain State Park, was a success with twenty alumni members participating.

Freshman Robbie Guidicipietro won the 5K race in 17:20. Mike Galonski '12 was the first alumni member to cross the line in 18:59. On the women's side, freshman Aida Torpey and senior Meaghan Ventarola came through at 20:26. Ally Borriello '15, and Cecelia Pfleging '16 were first for the women's alumni team in 23:09.

Following the race, the current team and alumni members gathered for brunch on campus.  Graduates from last year's team, which made the program's first appearance at the NCAA Championships, were honored.  They were presented with championship rings and jackets.

"Although this is a friendly competition, it is one of my favorite events of the season.  It means a lot to me and to this program to have so much support from our graduates.  The event is a great opportunity for the past and present student-athletes to bond through their experiences," commented 9th year head coach Nicole Ryan.

The Spartans will return to action at the Harry F. Anderson Memorial hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday.
