Ventarola Finishes 9th in the National Preview Race

The women's cross country team traveled to Tampa for the 2016 National Preview Race.  Senior Meaghan Ventarola recorded a top 10 finish on the National Championship course.  The course, at Te Abbey at St. Leo's University, was altered to due to large puddles and mud left by Hurrican Andrew.  Despite the poor conditions, the senior stood out in a strong field.  Classmate Katie O'Grady stepped up as the second Spartan finisher. Two freshmen, Rebecca MacLeod and Aida Torpey, who have been consistent scorers for the Spartans were the next two to cross the line.  Seniors Patricia Nersten and Kara Santa Teresa secured the teams 7th place finish.

Four members of the women's teamcompeted at the NJIT Highlander Technology Challenge.  Senior Jumana Khatib was the first Spartan finisher.  She was followed by freshmen Jennyfer Huerta and Grace Carter.  Senior Angelica Matwiejzcuk also had a strong race.  Because only four runners raced at the location they were unable to receive a team score.

The Spartans return to action on October 22nd at the East Coast Conference Championship hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College.
