Women's Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Road Sweep at Mercy

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Volleyball team suffered a 3-0 road sweep at the hands of the East Coast Conference's top team, Mercy University, on Wednesday evening at the Neil Judge Athletic Center in Westchester County.

STAC falls to 4-15 overall and 1-6 in conference play, while Mercy improves to 12-3 and 7-0.

How it Happened

  • As a team, Mercy recorded 36 kills compared to St. Thomas Aquinas' 16. The Mavericks also had 10 blocks and 33 assists, while the Spartans tallied 1 block and 15 assists.
  • Mercy outhit STAC by a .360 to -.036 margin for the match.
  • Kamila Zoe Rosa paced the Spartans' offense with a team-high five kills, along a block assist.
  • Anna Gazzerro tallied 12 serve assists (4.0 assists/set). Gazzerro also accumulated a service ace, five digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
  • Laura Rojas Gomez picked up four kills and two digs on Wednesday. 
  • Dahiana Garcia Atuesta tallied two kills, a serve assist, a service ace and a dig on the evening.
  • Adriana Zarceno put together a two kill and five dig effort against the Mavericks.
  • Boglarka Kiss racked up two serve assists, a service ace and five digs, while teammate Emma Carolan accumulated a team-high six digs in the match.
