On Monday, the College Triathlon Coaches Association announced their annual Scholar All-American teams and athletes for 2021. The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Triathlon team was named a recipient of this distinguished honor as a result of their outstanding work on both the race course and inside the classroom.

In total, 31 different programs across Division's I, II and III were named to the Scholar All-American Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season, with the STAC Women compiling a team GPA of 3.64. 

Additionally, Spartans Samantha Biss (Sr./Ringwood, N.J.) and Phoebe Hemmerling (So./Baton Rouge, La.) were named Scholar All-American Athletes. Biss is an Education major, while Hemmerling is an Art Therapy major at the college.

Overall, there were 44 women from 12 different Division II institutions who were named Scholar All-American Athletes for their efforts during the 2021 season.

In order to qualify for Scholar All-American distinction, teams must be current CTCA members and have a GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, while student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale throughout the fall semester of competition.
