Sparkill, N.Y. - On Thursday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its final Women's Tennis National poll of the 2022-23 season, with St. Thomas Aquinas College among the top 50 Division II programs.
The Spartans sit at #42 in the country, and finished their amazing campaign with an 18-4 overall record and a perfect 5-0 ECC mark. Regular season victories over New Haven, D'Youville, Daemen, Queens, West Chester, Molloy, Dominican, District of Columbia, Carthage, Slippery Rock and Adelphi helped cement the squad's outstanding run to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
St. Thomas Aquinas College won the ECC Regular Season title for the second time in three seasons and then captured its first-ever ECC Tournament crown with victories over Daemen and Queens last October. A #2 seeding in the NCAA East Regional, allowed the maroon and gold to host Jefferson University, with a trip to Orlando, Florida and finals on the line. A thrilling 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Rams punched the Spartans ticket to the Sunshine State, where they faced off with #3 Hawaii Pacific University in the Sweet 16 as the 14-seed.
The team's only blemishes came via Dallas Baptist and St. Mary's (Tex.), Wilmington (Del.) and NCAA Semifinalist Hawaii Pacific.
