The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Tennis team has earned the #4 seed in the East Regional of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Tournament and will take on #5 Le Moyne College in a match-up of top programs.

St. Thomas Aquinas secured its first-ever selection to the field of 48 on the strength of very strong fall and spring seasons. Six bids were awarded in the region with #1 Wilmington, #2 District of Columbia, #3 Queens, #4 STAC, #5 Le Moyne and #6 Franklin Pierce all qualifying for the big dance.
The Spartans (19-2, 4-1 ECC) and Dolphins (13-5, 10-0 NE10) faced off against each other on October 8, with STAC taking the 4-3 decision. In the tilt, St. Thomas Aquinas took two out of three match-ups in doubles play, with the teams of Samanta Villegas Robles & Elita Silins and Paul Palero & Eliza Mulder posting victories. In singles action, Palero, Villegas Robles and Eliza Mulder were all successful in their individual competitions to help the maroon and gold secure the win.
Preliminary Round matches will begin on May 6-7 at top-seeds Wilmington (Wilmington, Del.) and District of Columbia (Washington, D.C.). The winner of #4 St. Thomas Aquinas vs. #5 Le Moyne will play #1 Wilmington with the winner of #3 Queens vs. #6 Franklin Pierce taking on #2 District of Columbia.
The winners of each regional bracket will advance to the 2022 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship, which will take place May 17-21 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
