Freshman Victoria Gregson scored the game winning goal with only 6 seconds left on the clock in the Lady Spartans 9-8 win over East Stroudsburg University. The St. Thomas Aquinas lacrosse team is now 8-1 on the season.
STAC struck quickly with a Kellie Kucinski goal off a pass from Johannah Mitchell less than a minute into play. After two ESU goals, Kucinski responded with her second goal assisted by Margaret Sharp. Genevieve Stickney scored her first of three goals off another Mitchell assist and Alexis Seras capped off the 3-0 run with a goal of her own. ESU countered with a goal, but only to have another Stickney goal with 3 seconds left to play in the half giving the Lady Spartans a 5-3 lead.
ESU went on a 3-0 run to start the second half, but STAC did not let down. Samantha Lowney, Stickney and Sabrina Prestano added goals setting the Lady Spartans up for the dramatic finish.
Mitchell finished the game with 6 assists while freshman goal keeper Kaitlyn Lonergan recorded 8 saves.
The Lady Spartans return to action on Wednesday as they take on ECC opponent Bridgeport at the Spartan field at 4:00 p.m.
