STAC Drops 63-52 Road Matchup at East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team dropped a pre-Thanksgiving road matchup with East Stroudsburg University by the score of 63-52 at the Koehler Fieldhouse in the Keystone State.

STAC falls to 1-4 on the season, while ESU improves to 4-1.

Bailey Chapman led the maroon and gold offense with 17 points, while Jona Kabashi (12 points) and Cassidy Mahaney (10 points) also scored in double digits. Meanwhile, Avery White led all Warriors players in scoring with 17 points of her own.

STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Eight Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
  • Delaney Finnegan led the maroon and gold with three assists on the evening.
  • Bailey Chapman hit 4 of her 6 field goal attempts, with 3-of-4 shots sailing through the nets from long range. She also hit all six of her free throws. Jona Kabashi went 3-for-7 from the floor and 5-of-8 from the foul line.
  • East Stroudsburg out-rebounded STAC by a slim 31-29 margin, with Chapman also grabbing a game-high seven boards for the Spartans.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas picked up eight steals, with the Warriors turning the ball over on 17 separate occasions.
  • The Spartans earned one advantage in the team statistical categories over East Stroudsburg: Fastbreak Points (4-0).
  • The game featured one tie and one lead change.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas trailed East Stroudsburg, 30-26 at the half and shot 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from the field and 100.0 percent (8-for-8) from the foul line.
  • Bailey Chapman led all scorers with 13 first half points for the Spartans, while shooting 100.0 percent from the field (4-for-4), three-point (3-for-3) and the free-throw line (2-for-2).
  • St. Thomas Aquinas' best shooting quarter came in the second frame, with the Spartans shooting 42.9 percent (3-7) from the field, 60.0 percent (3-5) from three and 100.0 percent (6-6) from the foul line. 

EAST STROUDSBURG NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Six Warriors logged double-digit minutes in the contest. 
  • Avery White paced East Stroudsburg's offense with 17 points, while teammates Emma Thornton (14 points) and Brooke Droege (13 points) also scored in double digits.
  • Lacie Kringe and Jess Devine led East Stroudsburg with five assists apiece on the night.
  • White went 5-for-13 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, with Thornton hitting all seven of her field goal attempts.
  • Brooke Droege also grabbed a game-high seven boards for the Warriors.
  • East Stroudsburg picked up 14 steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 23 separate occasions.
  • The Warriors earned advantages in four team statistical categories over St. Thomas Aquinas: Points Off Turnovers (15-11), Second Chance Points (12-8), Points in the Paint (28-12) and Bench Points (25-22).
  • East Stroudsburg had its largest lead of the game (12 points) just seconds into final quarter, 47-35, on an Emma Thornton jump shot
  • Avery White led all Warriors' scorers at the half with eight points, while shooting 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from the floor and 40.0 percent (2-for-5) from downtown.
  • East Stroudsburg's best shooting quarter came in the opening stanza, with the Warriors shooting 41.7 percent (5-12) from the field and 75.0 percent (3-4) from the foul line.
