Amherst, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball team wrapped up its two-game weekend Western New York road trip with a 71-50 defeat at the hands of No. 13 WBCA nationally ranked Daemen University on Sunday afternoon at Lumsden Gymnasium.
STAC falls to 7-18 overall and 4-9 in ECC action, while Daemen improves to 20-3 and 13-1.
Jona Kabashi led the maroon and gold offense with 13 points, as Toni Schuetze (11 points) also scored in double figures. Meanwhile, Julia Fontanillo led all Wildcats players in scoring with 11 points.
STAC shot 30.4 percent (17-56) from the field and 83.3 percent (10-12) from the foul line, while Daemen shot 39.3 percent (33-84) from the floor.
STAC NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Nine Spartans logged double-digit minutes in the contest.
- Delaney Finnegan and Bailey Chapman led the maroon and gold with three assists apiece on the afternoon.
- Jona Kabashi hit 5 of her 9 field goal attempts and 2-of-2 free throws, with Toni Schuetze going 3-for-8 from the field, 2-of-4 from three and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.
- STAC out-rebounded Daemen by a slim 47-43 margin, with Bailey Chapman grabbing a game-high nine boards for the Spartans.

- Julia Fontanillo paced Daemen's offense with 11 points, while teammate Brianna Caliri (10 points) also scored in double digits.
- Shyla Montgomery led Daemen with five assists on the day.
- Fontanillo went 5-for-9 from the floor, with Caliri hitting 5-of-10 field goal attempts.
- Brianna Caliri also grabbed a team-high seven boards for the Wildcats.
- Daemen picked up 19 steals, with the Spartans turning the ball over on 31 separate occasions.

- Daemen had its largest lead of the game (33 points) with just under a minute to play in the third, 62-29, on a Brianna Caliri jump shot.
- Claire Pikett led all Wildcats' scorers at the half with nine points, while shooting 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from the floor and 33.3 percent (1-of-3) from three.
- Daemen's best shooting quarter came in the opening stanza, with the Wildcats shooting 44.4 percent (8-18) from the field and 20.0 percent (1-5) from the three-point line.
